Nan Gray Davis has water bottle filling stations located throughout campus. Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to campus each day. However, to protect all electronic and student devices, water bottles must have a screw-top lid and may not have a straw. Water bottles may only contain water; no other liquids may be inside students’ water bottles.

The Alabama FOCUS Act prohibits all public K-12 students from using cell phones, smartwatches, and other wireless communication devices during the instructional day. According to the act, devices must be powered off and stored out of sight using whatever method is set by the local school board.

Nan Gray Davis Elementary will utilize a cell phone lock box that will be stored in classrooms during the school day to comply with this state law. Cell phones will be collected from students each morning and returned to students immediately prior to dismissal each day. Appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken to address any student who refuses to follow this policy.

Parents, we moved all students to the hallway when our school was under a tornado warning this morning. The students did a great job following directions and remaining quiet. The tornado warning has passed and all students are back in class at this time. We will continue to monitor the weather and react as needed. You can rest assured that your students are safe while at our school!
