Congratulations to our Kids with Character for the month of January. Our character trait for last month was Respect. These students were selected by their teachers and peers for being exceptional role models for their peers. We are proud of all of these students for being great examples of what it means to be a Jr. Bobcat!

If you have a child who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026, you can apply to have them be part of the Peer Model Pre-K program for the 2026-2027 school year at Nan Gray Davis Elementary. Students in the Peer Model Pre-K program will receive instruction from a high-quality Pre-K teacher and curriculum. Further, these students will serve as models of proper social interaction and language for their peers.
The requirements to be a Peer Model are as follows:
- Not have an active Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Be fully toilet trained
- Attend a scheduled screeing at Nan Gray Davis with school staff

Today is School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. Thank you to our Crossing Guards who do a great job of keeping traffic flowing smoothly and making sure everyone enters and exits our school safely!

Pre-K Registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. If you have a child that will be 4 on September 1, you can apply for a Pre-K spot for next school year. All applications must be submitted by the end of the month. Please see the attached flyer for information on how to complete the registration and screening process.

This week is School Counseling Week, and we are blessed to have the best school counselor in the state! This past week, Mrs. Kim Jones was recognized as the School Counselor of the Year for the state of Alabama at a reception in Washington, D.C. We are so proud and blessed to have Mrs. Jones as our School Counselor!

Tomorrow, Monday, January 19, we honor Dr. King’s legacy of kindness, courage, and the belief that every person deserves respect and fairness. All MCPSS schools and offices, including Nan Gray Davis Elementary, will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
